A Kaleidoscope of Colors - A Bigger Picture Of India

Updated: Jul 19, 2023

Welcome, fellow wanderers, As I embarked on my Global Citizen Year, living in the enchanting city of Pune, India, I knew that my opportunities for exploration were limited to a mere 14 days of Independent Travel. But let me assure you, those 14 days held the promise of unlocking a world of colors, culture, and captivating experiences that would stay etched in my soul forever

Now, let me be frank—14 days were hardly enough to soak in the splendor of this gigantic and hyper-diverse country. But hey, I made every second count during my independent travel, immersing myself in the glorious cities, towns, and landscapes that left me awe-struck at every turn.

Picture this: Mumbai, a captivating blend of British colonial architecture and historical wonders, where you can practically feel the heartbeat of the past.

And then Delhi, oh Delhi! A city that dances to the rhythm of contrasts, with its modernity juxtaposed against ancient traditions. I must admit, the organized metro system in Delhi took me by surprise—it's a marvel in itself!

Delhi Highlights:

Mind-blowing Public Transportation: Trust me, you'll be zipping through the city like a pro!

Old Delhi's Bustling Streets: A chaotic charm that'll leave you utterly enchanted.

Tour Guide Extraordinaire: Shout-out to our friend Sumit, who made our Delhi exploration truly memorable.

Next stop, the crown jewel of Indian tourism, the iconic "Taj Mahal" in Agra. A city with immense potential, fueled by tourism revenue, but sadly hindered by a lack of investment in its citizens' well-being. Nevertheless, the sheer grandeur of the Taj Mahal left us awestruck—it's a sight that must be experienced at least once in a lifetime.

Agra Highlights:

Food Heaven: Get ready for a culinary adventure like no other.

The Taj Mahal: A symbol of eternal love that will steal your heart.

Fatehpur Sikri: Step into a realm of architectural brilliance.

Now, prepare to be enchanted as we make our way to the "Pink City" of Jaipur, nestled in the picturesque state of Rajasthan. In my humble opinion, Jaipur boasts the most breathtaking sights among all the cities we visited.

Jaipur Highlights:

Amer Fort: Behold the regal beauty of this majestic fortress.

Pink City Delights: Every corner is a kaleidoscope of hues.

Hawa Mahal: The Palace of Winds, a true architectural marvel.

And then, with a heart full of unforgettable memories, we set our sights on our final destination—the enchanting "Blue City" of Jodhpur. A delayed train and a chilly overnight journey couldn't dampen our spirits as we reveled in the glorious sunsets and savored the delectable Poha (Flattened rice for breakfast).

Jodhpur Highlights:

Traveling Momo: That's right, I made a furry friend on the journey!

Serenity at Mandore Garden: A tranquil escape amidst nature's embrace.

City Tour to the Blue City: Lose yourself in the blue-hued charm of Jodhpur.

And there you have it, a whirlwind tour of India's treasures, each city offering a unique kaleidoscope of colors and experiences. My heart brims with gratitude and wonder as I bid farewell to this magnificent land, leaving behind a piece of my soul in every city I visited. Until next time, my fellow adventurers, may your own journeys be just as extraordinary!
